Ogre-nation!

Man oh man, what have I done! As Jordan and I were hanging out together on leave, we stumbled into our old GW romping grounds, and there they were, staring me in the face, OGRES! So, I started out by purchasing a box set of leadbelchers, and trying them out. So after our long anticipated battle, we decided to mess around and see what they were made of, holy cow! 4 lead belchers, vs 20 crossbowmen, and a mortor. First round, I destroyed a entire unit of crossbow men, 10 in all, in one shooting round! Right then and there I was hooked. The crossbow men went on to win, due to some mis-fires, and the fact we did not do any hand to hand. So we ran them again, this time like a real fight. First round, once again I managed to destroy an entire unit. After that, I charged the other unit, and they fled, due to fear. Soooo, I went after the mortar, but just when I turned my back, the crossbowmen cut me down, with a very well placed shot by the mortar. I thought, just 4 models took out over half of my empire warband, what would a whole warband of these guys do? So, here they are, I ended up with:

1 tyrant
1 gorger
2 lead belchers (4 in all)
3 bulls (6 in all)
and 10 gnoblers (32 in all)

Enjoy the pics! This is my warband, 499 points right on the dot!

Baby steps to get back in the game.

Ok, I lied on my last post, I did not get my cannon crew finished............... Sorry. I will be honest, I have been so busy latley I have not had time for my favorite hobby. With the deployment to Iraq looming in my future, I am running around like a chicken with my head cut off. We are looking like the date is Oct. 12th, so I have about 3 weeks to get everything prepared. GOOD NEWS!!!! I have purchased my very first home, in the great state of Oregon, in my old home town. There was a lot next to it for sale, so we bought that also, three housing lots in all, with 2 houses. So we are on our way in that department. There will soon be another addition to my family, we are expecting a baby girl in january, I will be gone =(, but still am very proud. I feel a lot more comfortable with my wife and little girl, and soon to be 2 baby girls in Elgin, around family, I can't think of another place in the world better to raise a family. But, ok enough about me, lets talk about what I am cooking up......... now that fantasy football season has kicked off, I am going to be around the desk and computer a lot more, thus enabling me to paint quite a bit more. I got a late start tonight, so I thought I would go ahead and finish up some models that needed their bases done, a treeman that jordan painted for my 17th b-day, and the first cannon that I painted up, part of the crew. Tomorrow, I hope to start on the crew, it took me a couple of hours at most to do 1 member so maybe I can pump one out. OH! and if I actually have people looking at this blog, be sure to check out jordan's link for the battle report, we finally threw down, empire vs skaven, but I am not going to ruin it for you, you are in for a treat, he did a awsome job on our report, I hope he is not wanting me to come up with the next one, his will be pretty hard to top....................

Ok back on track.......

Once again, I totally blame Jordan and TC for this. With all the time I have wasted on GW's, I could be done with my army. So once again, their fault not mine. Ok, well after getting my helblaster out and all ready to go, I found out that, of course, it is missing parts. And of course, the guy I got it from can not be contacted..........sooooooooo I am going to just use a cannon in its place, and use a better wizard. Since I already have a cannon done, I just have to paint up the crew. To easy. To get me back in the grove, I have ordered some dudes from blue table again, to be inspired so enjoy the pics, I will have my cannon and crew done by this weekend. And yes, jordan is right, I do have to go back to the desert, so it will be about a year till I get to paint again, so I will hit it hard before I have to leave.

Holy Guild Wars Batman!

Jordan, I blame you for this! I was doing so good on my painting track, now, I am a guild wars fanatic! My latest binge has been on getting services for our guild! It has consumed all of my painting time, but, somehow I finally managed to get my unit of greatswords painted up! Yes! I did not put anything on the banner yet though, not much of a drawer, so I thought I would look around for a decal, or sticker, or maybe my good buddy Jordan will paint one for me..................lol. Well, enjoy the picks, hope you like them, and next, I am cooking out a hellblaster gun and crew! Can't wait for it!

It's been awhile...............

No, I am not singing a stained song, I was just pointing out that it has been a long time since I have touched a brush! I did not follow the path that I set for myself with my woodelves, I decided to go with another empire unit, Greatswords! These guys are basically knights on foot, and are a really wicked force to be reconned with. I plan on making another 500 point warband, and instead of using knights, these guys will be my strong arm. I completed my first one, and I must say, that he looks pretty good! I am getting really good with the faces now, and that is what completes the model, so it won't be long, and I will be holding a Golden Demon award! LOL, ya right, they don't hold a candle............................ enjoy the pics, and ge ready for another unit!

Blue Table Painting

As most of you can see, I refer to Blue Table a lot throughout my posting, showing pics of stuff they have done for me, and I also have their link on my page. I am a pretty new client to them, I am sure they have ones that employ them a lot more, but I have been nothing but impressed with them from the get go. Their founder, Shawn, is a great guy, probably one of the nicest people I know. I would just like to put it out there, that if you need any painting done, these guys are very reasonably priced, especially for professionals, and get the job done quick and perfect. There customer service is the best you will find. I know that I plan on using them more in the future too, so if you need some help painting, give them an email. Below are some more pics of items from them, I got the halforc duelist for my dogs of war army, and the dryads, well, lets just say they came from a great American!

Warband complete!

Alright ladies and gentlemen, here it is! I am done! I did not think it was possible, Brock, paint? No way, I thought I was doomed to pewter and plastic guys forever! But no, with some inspiration from a good friend, and a little bit of free time, I have done it. I painted all of the models on here, cept for the highspeed wizard, (compliments of blue table paint) and the militia men, but they are not that great, I could probably have done them myself in half a day, but they are the right colors for militia, so what the heck. Here are the stats of my army:

5 Knights Panther of the Inner Circle w/1st knight 146
mortar w/3 man crew 75
5 crossbow militiamen 40
5 crossbow militiamen 40
Level 1 wizard 60
Captain w/full plate and shield 60
9 swordsmen w/duelist 73

total 494

There it is! now I just need to engage in a little battle to see how they roll! Enjoy the pics!

One more guy to go!

Alright, my duelist for my swordsmen is complete! I really wanted to make him stand out from the rest of the guys, so I used and extra dogs of war guy I had laying around for him, and made a few modifications to make him fit in alright. And no, I did not draw out the shield design, it is from an old high elf sheet I had laying around, and it matched his colors so I thought why not? This leaves me one guy to complete, my general, then my 500 point war band will be done, and I can start working on a wood elf one!

New army update!

Hello kids, I have very good news! My unit of 10 swordsmen are finally done! That is right, instead of getting on here and telling you what I was doing next, I just went ahead and did them! Oh, and my waywatchers are done from the folks at blue table, very excellent job on them I might add! Just when I start to think that I can paint somewhat decent, they shoot me right back into the ground. Oh well. I also ordered a tight wizard that I found on their website, to be in my warband. So......... my mortar is done, knights done, swordsmen, minus my duelist, he will be done soon!, crossbows done, now all I have left to do is the mounted champion, and of course the duelist, and my 500 point war bands is complete! Below I have included pics of the swordsmen, wizard and waywatchers! Enjoy!
